| Event Description | Tuesday 24th April 2012, 11am - 3pmBentley Hotel, South Hykeham, LincolnSingle Tickets £26.50, £26.80 online (includes booking fee), Table of 10 £265.00, £265.30 online (includes booking fee). Come and join us for our very popular and entertaining Annual Ladies Luncheon. This year we have two wonderful lady speakers and a sumptious three course luncheon. The first speaker is Judy Theobald, who for the past four years has worked for BBC Lincolnshire and currently present a show on Sunday afternoons. For twenty-three years she wrote a freelance poetry column for regional newspapers, published seven books, worked as a newspaper reporter and sub editor and for eight years was the editor of Lincolnshire Life magazine. Her talk is entitled 'A Brief Guide to Love and Romance'. Lunch will then be served. The menu includes, Fan of Cantaloupe Melon with Woodland berries and Mango Coulis, Chicken Breast served a Lemon and Black Pepper Sauce or the vegetarian option of Butternut squash filled with roasted vegetable and topped with a Red Leicester Crumb, served with a Chef's selection of potatoes and vegetables, followed by Strawberry & White Chocolate Cheesecake Coffee or tea and mints will finish off the delicious meal. After lunch, our Guest Speaker, Sheila Dibnah will begin her talk. Sheila is the widow of Dr Fred Dibnah MBE the famous steeplejack. Her talk is entitled 'My life with Steeplejack Fred' and is peppered with fabulous stories of what it was really like to live with a much loved celebrity and television presenter. Who else could have installed a mine shaft in his bac yard? There are things only a wife can know…and you will love this respectful, funny, upbeat and very informative presentation of life with a true, Great British Eccentric. Prior to meeting Fred, Sheila had a varied career: window dresser, catwalk model, and working for many years in touring shows, including prominent hypnotist Peter Casson, culminating in creating an illusionist act with Les Brown called ‘Duo Magicana" (she is still affectionately known today to Master Illusionist Paul Daniels as ‘Mad Ethyl’), and later working as a cabaret dancer. Sheila’s talk promises to be achingly funny - a fantastic recipe for a wonderful Ladies Lunch. Tables are allocated on receipt of your payment, on first-come, first-served basis. We are unable to reserve tables unless full payment has been received. For further information please contact the fundraising team on 01522 540300 |

Saturday 19 May: Tandem Skydive
| Event Name | Tandem Skydive |
| Event Date | Saturday 19 May |
| Event Image | ![]() |
| Event Description | Saturday 19th MayLangar Airfield, NottinghamImagine standing at the edge of an open doorway in an aircraft flying at 10,000 feet - the noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the outline of distant fields below. Now imagine leaning forward out of that doorway and letting go - falling forward into the clouds, diving down through the air as you start freefalling at over 120mph! Then imagine the peace and quiet as the canopy opens, the steering toggles come down either side of you and you begin a tranquil parachute descent from a mile up in the air, steering yourself back down to the centre of the drop zone below. Imagine being able to do this for FREE whilst harnessed to a professional freefall parachute instructor and at the same time being able to help a national charity! Stop imagining, it's real and it's happening all the time and you can be part of it... Technically the jump is called a 'Tandem Skydive'. It is a Skydive because you will be freefalling through the air (without the parachute deployed) for several thousand feet; it is in Tandem because you will be harnessed to a professional parachute instructor at all times throughout the descent. This is the only way you can jump from such an altitude without spending thousands of pounds becoming a freefall parachutist. This is literally the chance of a lifetime! This jump is also much less demanding than the traditional ‘static line’ jump as the jump and training are completed in one day and your instructor will be in control of your landing. All you have to do is raise £395 (or more!) in aid of St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice by asking your friends and collegaues to sponsor you Please contact the fundraising office for your Skydive Pack and further information Tel: 01476 591010 |
